Does it make sense to replace my heating and air conditioning units at the same time?

Yes. Replacing your furnace and air conditioner at the same time allows you to save on installation and efficiency costs. Since the new equipment now meets current efficiency standards, future operational costs will be reduced.

Do I need a Preventative Maintenance Inspection?

Manufacturers recommend that equipment be inspected and maintained on a yearly basis. Having your systems cleaned annually will allow them to operate more efficiently and decrease the chance of an untimely breakdown. For safety measures, it is important to make sure the heating system's safety controls and flue are operating properly.

Why do the prices for Service Agreements vary between companies?

Nearly all heating and air conditioning companies offer some type of service agreement, though not all agreements include the same coverage. All service agreements should have four main components: full parts and labor coverage; a pre-season inspection; priority service; and a technician on call 24 hours a day.

How do I know if I have a furnace or a boiler?

Homes with ducts or registers that blow hot air are heated by a furnace. If the ducts or registers also blow cold air, then you have a conventional system, which means that a coil and condenser are attached to the system for Central Air Conditioning.

Homes that have radiator or baseboard heat are heated by a boiler. Most homes heated by a boiler do not have Central Air Conditioning unless they have a High Velocity Air Conditioning system.

How often does my air filter need to be changed?

A variety of factors, such as pets, number of residents, and style of flooring affect the air filter. A few visual inspections will give you a customized time frame for replacement. Traditionally, a standard filter should be changed every two months. In an Electronic Air Cleaner, the filter is reusable and should be cleaned once a year, while a Spaceguard, Apilaire, or Honeywell media filter should be replaced yearly.

What are the benefits of a programmable thermostat?

A programmable thermostat allows you to regulate your home's temperature while maximizing energy efficiency. Designed for total comfort and convenience, these thermostats allow you to program different temperature settings at different times, every day of the week.

The system automatically switches between heating and cooling, depending on demand, making your home more comfortable, and decreasing your energy bills.

Should my blower be left in the ON or OFF position?

The status of your blower is more of a personal preference than a strict rule. The fan motor is similar to a ceiling fan, so it does not use much electricity. Some multi-level homes will find the temperature more consistent with the fan ON, but we recommend that individuals test each position and find which one they prefer.

Is my home a candidate for High Velocity Air Conditioning?

Homes that have a boiler with radiator or baseboard heat are prime candidates for High Velocity Air Conditioning.

Is High Velocity Air Conditioning more expensive?

If your home does not have ductwork, the price of installing High Velocity Air Conditioning will be equal or less than the cost of Conventional Air Conditioning. However, if your home already has ductwork, then installing Conventional Air Conditioning will be easier and less expensive.

What are the advantages of High Velocity Air Conditioning?

The High Velocity Air Conditioning system removes 30% more humidity than a conventional system, allowing you to feel more comfortable at a higher setting. High Velocity also takes up much less space than the conventional system.

How is the High Velocity Air Conditioning system installed?

The High Velocity system can be installed in the attic, knee wall, basement, or even a closet! It uses two-inch metal flexible tubes to deliver cool air to all rooms, and there is only one centrally located return air duct.
